I am writing to express my agreement with the above poster who stated that adjusting Virtual Memory can be an effective solution to the "Serious error" problem. I too was suddenly plagued with this issue after a month of playing Zero Hour with no problems whatsoever. Then, without warning, as I neared the end of a Generals Challenge, the crashing began, and it continued occurring in every game whenever I came close to completing a challenge. I tried a couple of other recommended fixes, but the one that did the trick was increasing the amount of available virtual memory. I boosted it from two and a half gigs to three and a half, and the serious error crashes instantly ceased. Since then I have successfully played many games without a single crash. So, if you're experiencing these insanity-inducing errors yourself, give this a try; it might be just the solution you need to to restore C and C Generals Zero Hour to its normal glorious working order. And by the way, is EA really as terrible at offering proper support as these posts suggest? If so, all I can say is "Wow"; EA's brand has expanded to include many other studios, and I would have hoped that as they grew their integrity would increase to match their size. In any event, increasing virtual memory worked well for me, so you might want to give it a try. Good luck!
